Persuasive Writing - Abby Hubbard - Highlanders in Green!!

When I first saw the new, bright green Highlanders jersey I was horrified.
I am AGAINST the change to the Highlanders jersey and here are some of my reasons why.
My first reason is that since the old blue, gold and maroon jersey has been around for so long, through wins and losses of games, it’s hard for some people to accept the change. Supporters rummaging through their closets to find their blue, gold and maroon t-shirts, only to throw them away and forget them just like the team’s ones.

My second reason to state that the new, green Highlanders jersey is a horrible change is that it looks AWFUL!
Green may be your favourite colour but it’s definitely not mine!
Green represents everyone’s worst nightmares, brussel sprouts, vomit, slime, broccoli and many more terrible things.
Blue, gold and maroon are more suitable colours and are more traditional for the team.
My third reason as to why I am against the new jersey is that more people, like me, disagree on the jersey being green, which means less people will support the Highlanders in games which means they will gain less money.
The change from the blue, gold and maroon jersey to the slimy, yucky green one, is not one I am proud of, therefore I encourage you to side with me and many others and say no to change.

Term 3 Week 2

Well it has been a busy start to term 3 with lots of students looking at High School Choices for next year. We have started our "IMPACT" topic work. Students should have been busy looking at how they can help the environment with their challenge sheet of tasks last week. There are a couple of links to some cool websites below that are in line with what we are looking at in class.

http://www.freerice.com/ - this site has quizzes and for correct questions answered you earn rice that is donated to countries in need.

http://www.electrocity.co.nz/ - set up by genesis energy this site has an interactive city yuo designa dn build, much like that of SIM city for those of yuo who are familiar with this.
Get on and check this out.

Other tasks for the week at home include daily personal reading, http://www.mathletics.co.nz/ for those of you with an account, Spelling lists & Maths Practise Sheets will come home Tuesday as we had over half the class out today at OBHS open morning.
