We’d just finished archery, and we were all nervous, yet excited about doing abseiling. We started at a small spot below the abseiling course. We were told what to do, and we put on our harnesses, with a little assistance from the adults. It was a small but steep walk up to the top of the short cliff.
When asked who wanted to go first, the others acted a little nervous, however, I stuck my hand right up, followed by the others. The adventure masters man began pulling the rope back to the top He told me to put the rope in a pile on the ground. He attached the harness to it, and finally, I was off. I started on a long, wooden bumpy slope which was very steep. The man told me to let go of the rope with my right hand to go down faster, and that I had to sit down and keep my legs straight. As I stepped on to the rock wall, he told me to move to the left. A short while longer, I was on the ground.
We all had the option to have another go. I zoomed down the wall the second time round, almost halving my previous record. Before we knew it, it was time to move onto the next activity.
